So how long is that fancy new DSi handheld going to hold up with all those new features before you'll have to plug it in to an outlet to recharge? Right around six to nine hours under normal or medium usage and brightness conditions, according to a Nintendo spec sheet comparing the features of DSi to its older sibling the DS Lite. The chart below details the battery life of both DS editions under various levels of usage, DSi on the left-hand column and DS Lite specs on the right.



The shorter battery life of DSi is to be expected, with the added camera and MP3 functionality as well as the larger display screens the likely culprits.

DSi releases sometime in 2009, with the handheld set to retail in Japan for 18900 yen, or about $180 USD.
