Miyamoto Talks DS Games in the Home, in Public, and... Cats

During Nintendo's recent Investor Relations meeting, there was a period of questions and answers between the investors and Nintendo EAD General Manager Shigeru Miyamoto, which can be found here, but may do you little good unless you can read Japanese.
Fortunately, Andriasang managed to glean a little information from it which surrounds some upcoming DS titles, as well as... cats.
As we all know by now, Miyamoto is no longer allowed to discuss his hobbies and personal interests, as they could "reveal Nintendo's future software developments," as Iwata put it. Despite this, one investor asked him to divulge the inspiration for whichever title is getting the lion's share of his attention at the moment, as well as which platform, genre, and other details surrounding the game.
Iwata reiterated that "we ask him not to speak about his interests," and Miyamoto confirmed, stating "I am unable to speak in any way about future developments." Nonetheless, he did go on to discuss two sides of DS gaming to which he is paying attention.
One side is a DS game which, despite the system's portability, is played in the home, explaining that there are actually many people who use the DS there. The other side is a DS game played in the public space, and he speaks of Dragon Quest IX's "sure chigai" functionality, which allows the game to exchange information with others who pass by on the street while the game remains in sleep mode. This is an area which Miyamoto wishes to explore further.
And then, perhaps as a tease, Miyamoto closed by saying "Also, I've recently been caring for cats. That is all." "He just gave a big hint," Iwata added.
Andriasang adds that the pair might have been joking about the cat comment, as it was given as an aside. Plus, it's difficult to read a person's intent in such a second-hand account (just ask Activision's Bobby Kotick about that).
To throw in my two cents, while I like dogs, I do rather enjoy cats. I'd love to see Miyamoto take on a parallel to Nintendogs, though one must still wonder if he could have something else in mind. After all, if someone told you that there was a game inspired by gardening, Pikmin is probably not what would first come to mind without prior knowledge.
Oh well. At least there will be Jeane in No More Heroes 2, with Suda's goal of outdoing Ubisoft's Petz franchise.
